hi

I'm thinking that I'm going to have to refinish this old Gibson (reluctantly due to experience)

the serial number is a concern as it's already very faint, I can get the numbers in the light.

what should I do to save them?ImageImage

Number punch sets that match what Gibson used in terms of size, style, etc and a bit of practice to get the uniformity right. Good thing you can still get the original number.

You bet.

I don't think so. I know that Dave searched for years to find punches that matched perfectly and only found stuff at second hand sources like auctions and yard sales that comes close enough to use. We've rarely had to do this and I can only think of a few times in years.

Someone over at the MyLesPaul forums made a run of these stamps a few years ago. Don't know of a current source.

Often times these are full of sealer and lacquer, you may be surprised at how deep they are after removing the finish with some solvent.
