Toward the topic I have always used a dremmel and stewmac base. For the the key is to not be in a hurry. I simply use tight bond as far as glue goes. I have used Ca but i tend to get it everywhere in one fashion or another

Here is a rosette I did yesterday with 0 gap. Just sneak up on it:) adjust a little as the cutter is going and shave off a tad at a time until it pops in

I bought the SM jig and modified it for my laminate trimmer. The SM jig is fantastic and mounting my laminate trimmer to it made it even better. I wasted SO much time with other jigs prior to this - the SM unit beats all the ones I tried.

My issue with the dremel is the slack/runout in the spindle bearings and flexibility of the plastic housings. I ended up routing a lot of corrugated cuts.

Just did this one and the dremel was missing the nose so there was plenty of opportunity for movement but it cut perfectly clean.

Yes I have just discovered that there are Dremels and there are Dremels. I use a Dremel and my homemade jig to cut rosettes and have had no problems cunning clean channels. My current Dremel is about 4 years old and runs smooth with no or negligible runout, and gets used a lot. I decided to buy a new one as a spare. Bought one and it is complete garbage, unusable. So much runout I sent it back. Now waiting on a replacement and we will see how the replacement is. They seem to have a QC issue. Mine is my 3rd Dremel. First one lasted 20 years, next died one week after the warrantee expired, 3rd is great and a big improvement but apparently they are not all like that.
