For clearing small portions of the slot of CA, we use Mr. Breakstone's recommended StewMac hook tool and for wholesale slot clearing (where the luthier fretted with CA), a high wattage soldering iron with a 0.020" piece of scrap sawblade held in to a slot in the tip with a screw...good fume extraction is a must. A router speed controller does a good job of setting tip heat hot enough to melt the CA, but cool enough to avoid wood smoke.

Some fine points re: the hook tool:

- Resharpen the blade with a slip stone or fine half-round file...once dull, it takes a lot more force to cut the CA residue...proper function is a 'press-crunch'/repeat action. A fine Dremel sanding drum can be used as well, but use care to avoid heating the tip, as well as the direction of rotation due to safety concerns

- Do not use the binding as a fulcrum to lever out the last bit of CA...that will pop the binding loose with related finish damage (and turn air in shop blue )

- Take small bites, working from the center of the slot outward to the binding

Success! I used an exacto knife I had, and followed all the cautions given here. Went smoothly.
My thanks to everyone. Much appreciated.

Congrats! No doubt it took enough time that you’ve sworn never to get that much CA into a slot ever again. But you know what? It may happen anyway — I know I’ve been faced with slot cleanout after binding more than once, and the latest was just two weeks ago. Felt pretty stupid, but there ya go!

Yeah, wasn't a picnic for sure.
And yep, I shall endeavor not to do that again, lol.
But, I'm pretty sure it will happen again. At least I have the solution.
