Recently at VIGF, the Lee Vally rep gave me a piece of torrefied maple, with the suggestion to use it for bridges.

Well, I managed to nab a few for future use, maybe.

Naturally, not every woodworker understands the specific requirements of us fancy pants loofahs, so a pair of potential bridges was about as much as one could ask if this sweet brick.

Yet, there is use still. Except right now it’s too small. Needs to be doubled...

Hydrophobic or no, it gets a good dunking...

Add a bit of trout from Tunkwa Lake (my dads first fish after donkeys years of unsuccessful efforts, an adventure story for a different forum)...Image
A dash of salt, butter, fish seasoning, lemon, and parsley...add good wine and better company, and voila!ImageImage

That just made me hungry!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Me too!

There's got to be some angle on high temperature natural Tunkwa Lake fish oil treatment of torrified wood to run with....
