Where can I order Abalone letters from besides DePaule? I have emailed them with no response.

Buddy DePaule, Andy's son and front man for the company, has recently passed away. You can probably contact Andy in a week or so. I'm thinking shell isn't top of his list right now. He does have a manager in Vietnam that could likely fill the order.

Wow, that's a d***ed shame. I haven't purchased from them in a while, but they were a delight to work with..... Sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear that about Buddy, I was just dealing with him to get an inlay customized for the guitar I just finished. He was a straight-up guy to deal with.

Its terribly sad. A vibrant young life over. Just like that.

Any emails from the luthier community would I'm sure be appreciated by Andy. He's still got his hand in the game and still has a passion for music and building. A little love his way can only help. ☹

How very sad to hear. I, too, dealt with Buddy for most of my orders, very nice guy.

Builder's used to cut their own pearl letters. It's not that hard to do and building can be somewhat more satisfying if you do your own work. Pearl attracts attention like flies on -----, and the first question people often ask is "Did you cut that shell?". It's nice if you can say yes.--Bob

That is surprising news. I didn't know he was sick. Spoke with him not too long ago. Seems like I could hear kids in the background during our telephone conversations. I assumed he was rather young... Nice guy.

I've dealt with Andy and Buddy more times than I can count over the years. They are some of the nicest people I've known in this business. My deepest condolences to the DePaule family.
