Bought a new camera and I'm learning how to use it. The following are a few pics I just took to try out two of the lens a Sony 24X104mm telephoto and a Sigma 70mm macro lens.

You can really see the added depth of field in the macro lens.

The lighting sucked and although it's great in my home shop for woking on guitars more would be better for photography.

Day 11 of self stifling/isolation here trying to stay busy.....

Ok, I give up. Don't remember seeing the claw hammers from the setup course.

Nice photos. I've got a Sigma 17-70mm on mine that is the lens I usually leave on it, I like being able to work the depth of field.

Nice photos. You may already know this, but just in case, a polarizing filter can be a useful item. By rotating the filter, you can modify reflections on the surface of the instrument. This is especially the case if sunlight is involved, but I've used it with halogen light sources too. You can enhance, reduce, and even eliminate reflections depending on the look you are going for.

Just got a "new" camera myself. Nikon - immaculate, previously owned.
Certainly seems an improvement on my smartphone.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I had to put our camera money into a MEVO for my wife’s church (my church too, but she gets paid to be there, so I call it her church). Their first Facebook Live broadcast service this past Sunday was functional, but not ideal. I’m stepping up to get a better video/audio capture, so as to keep the audience (the quarantined congregation) engaged.

Here's an example of what a polarizing filter can do. These photos are rejects, but the only difference between them camera-wise is that the polarizing filter was rotated. The reflections in the left photo on the top were pretty much eliminated and the reflections on the side were toned down. (The light blurry dots in the left photo were from some dust on the lens catching light from the side.)

Wow Jay I see what you mean that's way better with the filter. It's a must have when it's safe to have stuff shipped in from NTC where B&H is.

Nice pics Hesh. I wish I could take good pics but I never had the knack for it. I think photography is an art. You could hand me the best camera and lense in the world and I'd still take bad pics. Kind of like you could hand me the best paint brush in the world and I still could not paint like Monet

Scrolling down slowly kinda threw me off a bit. Before I saw the third pic, I thought you had an ultra rare semi hollow body Les Paul !
