Sorry Ive been missing for so long , Have been extremely busy and just havent been by here in a while . Gonna try and do better.
Latest Build
Black Limba B/S set , Spruce Top , Mahogany Neck

This is 6 string 25-3/8" scale with Deering six string Banjo Strings . It all began when both sides snapped in upper bout bending and I HATE throwing stuff away. Soooo I did a prototype and this is what I ended up with .

That's a beaut, love the simplicity, and the execution.

Victory snatched from the jaws of defeat!
Nice save. I also don't like throwing materials away. Sometimes they hang around for a long time before I figure out what they might be good for (and sometimes that's the day after I finally tossed them [headinwall] ).
If you get tired of the tenor sound you could probably string it as a regular guitar.

I am probably going to at some point , however the string sizes are not that far off of light gauge 10, 13,17, 26, 36, 46

Very cool. The black limba looks great, so good save. I'm curious to know more about the tailpiece. It looks like it has bridge pins. Are the banjo strings ball end? If so, is there a hollowed out space in the tailpiece for them to fit into? What is the metal bar for on top of the tailpiece?

The no-binding look is nice too. It looks like the edge of the top is rounded over to blend into the side. Is that right?

Good question on the bridge pins. I made a flat top Mando with a pinless bridge. I want to convert it to pins. I’d be interested to know how you are anchoring loop end strings with bridge pins.

Yes those are bridge pins with ball end strings , The tail piece is thick so that minimal damage done to the tail block . I thought bout running them up through the block from bottom without pins .... kinda liked the look here. Metal bar is spring steel and is the ground point for the strings. Ground wire comes up from ground on jack through tail piece. edge is rounded over , but not all the way , if you look close on both sides of tail and neck it returns to square giving it a different look .

In your situation , try hooking loop over end of pin and setting pin in hole ..... might work ?? just a thunk
