I just bought an old 18" Jet Band Saw. Does anyone know the name of the company that specializes in upgrades and other assorted tricks and details on how to set this thing up?

Or any other recommendations?

Oh and which blades are best for re-sawing? I have a lot of billets.

I bought a ceramic guide setup from Laguna (Jet18). Took a while to deliver. A bit of drilling and tapping of the saw body to make it work. Runs smooth and true. Much better than the stock roller bearing setup.
Search for it in the archives. Ballbanjos had the suggestion and pics to help with the installation.

In my humble opinion the best blade for resawing is carbon tipped, they are the bees knees.

Blade will depend on what you're going to cut and how much you're going to cut. Mostly I use 3/16" and a 1/2" Timberwolf blades. I find I can resaw a lot of woods with a 1/2" blade if they're not high silica woods. For high silica woods, a carbide tipped blade would be in order.

I use 1/4” Timberwolf blades in my Rikon 10-325. I do have a wider blade for resawing but haven’t used it in several years and don’t remember what it is.

I use a 1/4" Timberwolf for almost everything on my 18 inch Jet. I have a 3/4" Infinity Rip resaw blade that I use if I'm doing heavy resawing, but actually the 1/4" Timberwolf works fine for most lighter resawing too (like 4 or 5 inches thick). Using the Laguna ceramic guides makes a big difference. I rarely change to a different blade.
