It is not safe for all finishes so please use caution, but auto glass cleaner instantly melts even quite gnarly fretboard cheese and allows it to be quickly wiped away. I spray into a paper towel and use the towel to wipe away the cheese. Never directly on the instrument.

Again, caution required. I only use this where I know the guitar has a modern, inert poly finish. Please don’t spray your original blackguard tele with windex.

A future fungus that ends civilization could easily have it's origin on a fretboard.

Funny, the rest of the guitar dies not appear to show much road wear. That's weird.

I thought that too about the rest of the guitar which was not bad. They picked up yesterday and were thrilled and said they will be back next year. Ok.... [xx(] :D

Good tip.

For everyone else get a thick single edge razor blade and try scraping on a beater. It goes very fast, the scraping and the hardest part is holding the blade so it doesn't chatter which you figure out quickly by doing. Any chatter comes right back off with a proper pass.
