For a dark Ebony headstock veneer, do more folks prefer using CA glue with Ebony sawdust, or black CA glue, or black tinted epoxy?

Thanks.

I like ebony dust with ca. But also depends on which one is closer. I had to sand up miles of ebony so I saved bout 2 gallons of the dust lol

I prefer Epoxy tinted with wood dust because for me it sands down easier than CA, and is easier to scrape and to file.
I've also tinted the epoxy with TransTint but prefer wood dust.

Black epoxy if there are areas where I want the black to show. Black CA when I just want to glue in a well-fitted inlay.

Ebony dust rubbed into the gaps, then thin CA.

I'd recommend making the dust with a clean medium file rather than sandpaper. It will avoid the bits of sandpaper grit mixed in with your ebony dust that inevitably end up where they would be most visible.

Also, a quick wash of the CA across the entire face of all the ebony can help avoid your fill showing up by looking slightly different from the surrounding ebony at certain angles due to a difference in it's reflectance.

Ebony dust with thin CA here. I stick a drum sander with 120G in the drill press and hold a folded sheet of typing paper next to it as I feed in some scrap Ebony offcuts. The paper catches the dust and then I slide it into old film canisters for storage.

I use epoxy and powdered black dye.
