Thanks Joel and welcome again to the OLF in your new capacity as a WAS (wood acquisition syndrome) enabler Regarding selling my guitars, or perhaps commissions although I don't personally like the commission model, it's under consideration right now and has been for a few months. I must say though that above all I do not want to lose my love of guitar building so that is a very strong consideration for me.Thanks Steve my friend but did you have to use the dreaded ovation word?????   Yeah it feels pretty good to feel pretty good I hope that you are doing great too!James buddy I have been letting guitars go for about a year an a half now. Three have been gifts, this one will be the forth, and two were sold. Again what I really wanted was to glean some real world, player data impressions or what we call in the software business beta sites. So far so good - no issues with any of my guitars in the field. James W.B. aka "Skin" well at least you got to see it under construction - this one will leave here in February to it's new home.Filippo we get to see and learn about many folks here on the OLF as they do what they individually need to do, with their own approach, as they prepare to build. Watching you has been both interesting and informational for me. I remember some of your earliest posts where you asked about things like shop lighting. Instead of wishing to hear about how many $11 Borg fixtures some of us may have you were more interested in the color, temperature, lumen output, and all the finer points that one would consider with a VERY well thought out approach. The same held true as you acquired your tools, built your shop, even saw the value in things like Festool. If I had to bet on a new builder emerging at some point as a world class builder my money would be on your my friend. Seriously - you are a quality guy!!! Hesh - If you send me one of those guitars in your stable and some scotch I'll record for you! Oh! wait! I can't play that well and I don't drink..... oh well! It was a good idea while it lasted. I can understand your reluctance to turn something you love into a business. I used to love photography and had a small side business doing weddings and portraits, usually for another studio. I quit my job, spent a year and a half in the 'business' and lost the love...... You have been learning with each instrument more about the craft and art and are having a great time watching others really enjoy your work. I have not heard your instruments but from what others have said they sound incredible. I know the 'fit and finish' is great. My photography experience does not compare in all aspects to your instrument building. I see that it is more than a hobby with you. I see your passion for the tone as well as the aesthetics. Hesh-- Another very elegant and beautiful guitar comes from the production line at Heshtone! Boy, I'm really a fan of the purfling on this guitar -- it has turned out great and its good to know that it is relatively easy to work with. The recipient is one very lucky fellow!

Thanks Jim my friend - the idea for the purfing came from Brock and I saw it on one of his very cool HGF guitars. Uncle Bob makes this stuff and I would imagine that it is not all that easy to make either. It bends significantly easier then herringbone purfing so it was a dream to work with. I plan on using it on #16 too. |

Another great guitar Hesh, you have certainly honed your skills from the first few buddie, your work is consistently outstanding and always a treat to the eyes. Yes,that purfling on the top looks great.I made some out of brw on my last guitar and loved it.Think I'll do it again on my L-00. It was a little difficult to get perfectly even. Beauty of an SJ Hesh ! The new owner will be a happy guy/girl!

Hesh, I was going to say everything everyone else already said so all I can say is "YOU DA MAN"!!! Awesome workmanship. Your design touches have continually added to a differentiated guitar - the Hesh Neck, The Hesh Bridge and now the awesome bridge pins, binding appointments and love the fretboard and sound hole rosette. Hey - I didnt hear about a trip up to the zootman's. I'm in if its happening and we should do it at his shop so we can drool over all the wood he will have packed in there. |

Thanks folks! Filippo my friend this one is a SJ but the last one, BRW guitar was indeed an OM. I just like OMs And the Cuban that I want to use is only large enough for an OM.Charlie buddy yep I am getting faster, mistakes that used to take me many hours to make now only take half that time...... |
