I live in an attic room in a city, so I'd have to say yeah, it's possible ;-)
So many luthiers post photographs of their guitars with their backyard
lakes or mountains in the background.

I live in the suburbs. I have no lake, I have no mountain. Can I still make
guitars or is the landscape a requiement?

Jim
Well, if you form a "society" like the Sierra Guitar Mafia (luthiers McCollum, Leach, Lewis, Allen, yours truly.... and we might let John How in on a trial basis) you might lend yourself an aire of legitimacy, but without trees, lakes and rivers, it'll be a hard sell!

Does that mean I have to buy the beer at the next meeting?

Here's the fix:

Take two Ovation guitars.
Cut the top off of one, snap off the neck. Fill it with water.
There's your lake.
Take the other, snap off the neck, and place behind the other upside down, but set up on the case.
There's your mountain.
Snap a picture, have it blown up, and framed as if it were the scene outside the window of your shop.
Then take pictures of your guitars in front of that "fake" window scene.
Perfect fix.

I don't have a lake or mountain either, but I'm still pushing through in an effort to get by. I just take frequent glances at photos of lakes and mountains and it seems to keep me going.

I do have a stream that borders my property aong its back edge, but I have to walk several hundred yards to get to it and the terrain is pretty hilly on the way. I end up taking the photos in front of a backdrop.

Someday...I'll have that lake and mountain in my backyard.

Regards,
Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars

Fellas, fellas...please relax. I have a gorgeous, scenic lake that is incredibly beautiful within mere moments of my backyard. Why, just the view from my deck is panoramic in a way that would make your guitars the envy of practically ALL.

Just send your guitars to me, and after a short aclimation period, say 3-4 months, I'll be happy to take the photos for you and send them back to you via email.

Bill

PS: The guitar may need to remain.    Simplyhere38646.5648148148

Here you go Jim, just put something like this up in your shop and you'll be set.

Hey Lance, maybe these should be in the "inspiration" area of the tools section.
