I ordered one of Woodcraft's 9" X 12" granite surfacing plates at their 10% off sale last Saturday. When the plate comes in, I'll pick it up at the store, so I don't have to pay shipping. I only spent $85 at the sale, how's that for self-restraint?

I took my straight edge and snooped out some Corian slabs that were left overs from a local company. I got one peice about 24" x 36" and some smaller peices (down to hand held size) for free. It is heavy but manageable if I should need to move it.

For sharpening, all I did was go to Lowes and rifle through their marble tiles until I found one that was flat. Cost a coupla bucks. It's not calibrated like the Woodcraft one, but my blades still get sharp.

Not big enough - for truing neck's, etc. The Grizzly's the one, but the shipping's a killer.
