As most everyone here knows, I've long been a proponent of Tasmanian Blackwood aka Black Acacia.
I was purusing the web yesterday and cam upon this guitar by Martin...nice! And nice price too!
It's finally coming into vogue and being recognized for the great wood that it is.

That's a bad thing from my point of view. I love to use it but I've found the good stuff is getting difficult to find over here and has trebled in price over the last few years. Now a volume producer has started using it the situation can only get worse.

heck the price has almost doubled in the past year. It is hard to find 3A under $200 now and last year I bought a set from DonW for $100

I had a wonderfull time! Sort of. If you can call breathing dust a wonderful time.
Here is a link to a couple of pics of some of the wood.

I have approximately 9 or 10 sets of cocobolo, a few sets of Taz Blackwood, some figured Sapele, oodles of redwood tops, and some other stuff sized and ready for resawing. All totalled, there will be approximately 60 b&s sets, and around 30 tops. I can't believe I accumulated that much wood. I'll still have bunches of sets left too. Don Williams38776.5935069444

...14 K for that guitar! I think the people at Martin have been sniffing too much nitro...

Alain,
Not really...it's a OM-45 after all. There's lots to be said for all that inlay, and it's a Limited Edition, meaning the won't produce all that many of them. So for collectors, that's actually a decent price.

Don, my bad. I hadn't noticed all the inlaying involved... Lots of work there for sure...
I guess I'm just jealous of not being able to buy one ... Still, if I had the money, I'd go for a single man shop build. But that's just me...
I guess those Martins do hold their values, if that sale on e-bay is any indication... Alain Desforges38776.6032291667

Hesh,

One question.... On your logo. Do you cut the pearl yourself? I'm about ready to give up and hand it over to De Pauls... To much work for a poor old man like me.
