Very handy!

My method is not nearly so hi-tech. I use a spot of superglue to temporarily patch a popsicle stick at the nut location on the neck (perpendicular to the neck's width). I put the neck on my drill-press table popsicle-side-down. The popsicle stick lifts the headstock-end of the neck up just enough that a few passes with a Wagner Safe-T-Planer gives a perfect taper. I pop the popsickle stick off with a chisel, clean it up with two or three passes of a block plane, and the neck is tapered.

Your way is much cooler.

My method is similar to Kelby's except I have a tapered board with a sort of tenon that runs down the center of it and fits into the neck's truss rod slot. I also use a Safe-T-planer on the drill press for the cutter.

Anyone have a cool jig for shaping the heel? (Me neither...)...I kind of use John Maye's router one from the neckmaking video, but still end up doing alot by hand...a maple neck convinced me there must be a better way....
