One more quick question I would like to get your opionion on. Places like Stew-Mac sell a brass plate designed to back up the bridge plate in a steel string. They say it is good to fix a bridge plate that the holes have enlarged enough to allow the string balls to pull thru. They also say it produces a clearer tone.

Does anyone have experience using this? I was thinking along the lines of using it in a new build to prevent the problem from occuring down the road. I was also thinging of using a sheet of carbon fiber instead of brass. Sound like something that might be a good idea? Or am I going to alter the sound for no good reason?
