Over at the Forum Build #2 room, Lance gave me a link that led me here:

Check out their brass and wood (and fossil ivory) press-fit endpin jacks. They don't require additional drilling for a retrofit, and they'd look much better than the usual chrome jacks on a new guitar, too. There's a moment of sticker shock, but if you're already shelling out the bucks for high-end tuning machines, not to mention zoot, these might be just the thing you want.

I'm curious to hear some "real world" opinions on these and how the jack holds up to repeated use. I like the look of the Pick-Up the World system designed to slide in through the endpin hole so there's no soldering or anything.

I had a pickup and jack put in my '55 00-18 a couple years ago, but I fought with myself a lot about whether I should have it reamed out for a jack, I'd have tried that endpin system in a snap. I'm still pretty happy with the decision, though. I bought the guitar to play, not to collect.
