This method uses a router and several jigs. Although making the jigs is an investment in time, they make bridge construction extremely fast and accurate.

1) The bottom of the blank is arched to fit the dome of the top using a sanding drum that follows the contour at the bottom of the platform.

2) The blank is clamped to a stage in a jig that has a system of rails. A router fixed to a base rides above the stage between the adjustable rails to reduce the thickness of the wings and define the region for the saddle and tie block.

3) The position of the stage holding the blank is adjustable and can slide horizontally beneath the rails, allowing the router (with tracks attached to its base) to ride above the stage to cut: a) the saddle slot, b) 45 degree ramp behind the saddle slot, c) channel between the ramp and tie block, and d) optional ledge behind the tie block.

4) Wings are rounded over by hand with a rasp and scraper.

5) Bone strips and overlay are glued to the tieblock, and holes are drilled (in this case 12).

6) Completed bridge.
