I am about to build my second guitar kit, basically a D-28, and am considering doing a roundover on the top front edge. What tricks do I need to know about?

How big of a round over? Like a bevel? I generally plane a few facets into the bindings and then sand them smooth. There are some threads showing people doing bevels on the forum I would search for those. for example: http://luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10101&t=45740&p=607317&hilit=arm+bevel#p607317

I'm just wanting to ease the edge where your right arm rests. I'm not sure how to build up the area to allow beveling it.

I plane or scrape the corner of the binding, and use sand paper to round it off. You will want to do this as the corner sure hurts while playing.
