I need some help:

1. I have a neck for a new bass that has ever the slightest amount of back bow in it, after fretting.

2. Typically, I use a double acting truss rod to correct this before fret leveling.

3. I went to 'loosen the truss rod' to straighten the neck and the truss rod nut just came loose - bad weld or something.

4. Is there any way to straighten the neck so I know I will have to add back back to the system after strings are installed, or should I try to yank the rod?

Thanks,

Stephen

I don't have experience with the truss rod situation, but have you tried just putting strings on it to see if you get enough neck relief that way?

It seems if the truss rod has failed, it needs to come out regardless of how straight or bowed the neck is.
