What is the best way to get those smooth curves in between the top and the sides of an electric guitar/bass? I was thinking of just sanding but i also have access to a CNC and similar equipment.

Are you referring to the radiused edges? If so, the quickest way is to use a hand router but you must be careful of grain flow and the way you feed the router in the wood.
