Nice curious, perhaps I missed something but what's the small hole near the lower bout slightly off centre for? A reference point? |

Dan, I am really eager to see how your walnut-topped axe looks under lacquer. Please show pics of the back, too. A couple of years ago I built a tenor banjo with a neck figured just about identically to your SG inspired guitar. I dyed the maple the same way and it looked just like that initially. Then I went back over it with other colors of brown dye and it mellowed out considerably. But walnut is what I truly love and I love it in all its forms. So, I'll be watching. You have a real cool guitar in the works! Patrick |

Got a lot done on the Bocote SG this weekend. First time using Honduras Mahogany. Man, it was actually kinda fun shaping the neck. |

Here are some pictures of the finished guitar. I lowered the vibrato arm after these pictures were taken. First time having an SG. I like the way it sits and feels. I stuck a pair of $12 China pickups in it. These are the best sounding pickups I have ever heard through my Carvin tube amp. I promptly ordered two more sets. I did the nut width and neck thickness to Angus Young dimensions. Man, he must have really tiny hands. Dan |

Hi Dan Im building an SG soon and was wondering what the angle of the bevel is off the face of guitar, how thick is the flat area of the side in between the two bevels? I done't have one I can measure out. Did you do a 5 degree neck angle as well? |
