Post subject:  Sanded through nitro and stain

So I'm finishing my second guitar and I managed to sand through not only the nitro but also the stain (stew Mac bright red). I was thinking of trying to touch up the stain and use an airbrush to cover with more nitro then continue to wets and once the repair has cured. Would this work? Has anyone has experience with repairing damage to stain? Everything I have read about fixing rub through on guitars deals with painted finished and drop filling. There are 2 reference imaged below. Thanks!

I'd just add some color to lacquer and touch it up with the airbrush.

Was the stain on bare (absorbent) wood, or was the wood already sealed? If it was on bare wood, it is harder to hide a repair.
Since your sandthrough is on a corner it is easier to hide than if on a flat surface. The eye expects to see color differences on a corner.
You are not going to get it perfect. You want to make it less noticeable. There will be evidence when you are done, just try to get it so that only a perfectionist guitar builder would notice it.
