Post subject:  I could use some advice...

Hello all,

I'm very happy to find a forum dedicated to building/repairing instruments. I've done my share on ultimateguitar, sevenstring, jemsite, but its great to finally find a group not consumed with pickup versus postings.;-)

Ok down to business.

This mandolin just fell into my lap to be repaired and since I don't have that much experience with acoustic instruments I think this is the place to ask advice on the repair of the back of this.

I was told that it happened because of humidity and time...yeah right someone droped or smack the hell out of this thing.

Besides the damage its in really good shape, if anyone has any info about "C. BRUNO & SON, INC. the family would really like that as well.

The Pics.

Have you tried the mandolin cafe. http://www.mandolincafe.com/ Great site dedicated to mandolins. Has a great builder and repair section. I'm a member as are a few of the guys from here. Theres a bunch of good mandolin builders and repairmen over there. I am not an expert on bowl backs so i have no real advice.

Another great site and particularly for repairs is David Hynds Mandolin Luthier site. http://www.mandolinluthier.com/ Its the best resource I have seen for bowlbacks. His Triage page is a cracker! http://www.mandolinluthier.com/HospTriage.htm

I'll check those sites out. Building electrics and repairs are different animals. Thanks for the insight.
