Thanks Cecil, Wendell "hooked me up". I did not use a particular plan, but just started cutting to fit my material. I've got the body and stick finished. I'm finishing up the headstock tomorrow if I can find my carving set. I'm going with a 28-inch scale assuming a guitar string will be long enough. I made a bender out of a tin can and heatgun. Maple sides and stick, elm top and back, mahogany here and there. Regards, Dan |

I've got my Dulcimer up and running. I'm in the process of applying lacquer now. This is my first acoustic build, and I'm fairly pleased with it. The top and back are local Elm, the sides and fretboard are Maple, and the rest is Mahogany scraps. I used a 27" scale and cut the fret slots with a Zona #350 saw. I made a wood bender using a heat gun and tin can. I was really suprised the intonation is so good. This the first time I have a slotted a fretboard. The sound is not very loud, perhaps the body should have been deeper, but my dad will dig it. Thanks for the advice Cecil and Wendell! Dan |
