I will be building a tenor uke at this time... no plans or forms but I hope to find one online that I can reasonably duplicate... I can't order from Stewmac or LMI at this point so I will need to work with what I have...

Here is what I plan to use:

Top: Reclaimed (as in found on the sidewalk) wood, what appears to be Western Red Cedar, at least it smells like it...
Back/Side: Padauk from my last uke challenge
Neck: Mahogany
Fingerboard: Probably ebony
Trims: Curly maple, and bwb purflings

I really need to buy more mahogany, I do not have a low cost, reliable source for this. I hate wasting guitar neck blanks to make a uke neck, but not much I can do...

So far all I am doing is prep the plates:

Whittling the wood down to its proper thickness. Planning around .06" on the side, .09" on the back and top. I was able to thickness the back and side close to its finished thickness with the Wagner Safe T Planer but it threw dust everywhere. I still need to finish it off with hand planes (the thing leaves some deep marks) and sanding.

The top will be whittled down by hand, it sure planes a lot easier than Padauk. It's very thick to begin with so this might take a while. Last time I measured it was around .160"

Can you tell me what is the depth at the tail and heel? I can't find this information in the instruction.

I was a little busy so I didn't touch the project for a while... here is some progress: I have sanded the pieces to the right thickness (or close to it) and made a mold

Looking good! Here's an image I found online somewhere a long time ago, which is quite handy for uke designing:
