Thinking about trying to build a uke. Can anyone point me in a direction of some good plans and/or build info. Just not sure where to start and plans would be a good bump in the right direction. Thanks

Hana Lima has good plans for all sizes. You can find Martin style soprano and concerts sizes on Elderly Instruments. And Grellier has free plans for a Martin Soprano.. http://www.grellier.fr/plans.php?lang=en
There are others out there if you google search

I have been looking pretty hard at the grellier plans. I think I may start there. I'm guessing they are as good as any?

The Guild of American Luthiers (GAL) has an impressive collection of plans. Among them is the plan for a Martin tenor, as well as the Martin Tiple.

I was going to suggest these plans. I have bought a few plans and I got to admit this free plan is equally as well as them. And it is free....Mike

I thought the Hana Lima plans were only for a Spanish foot style construction. I would want a bolted butt joint.

Tony, I have an uke on the horizon; knowing then what you know now, would you recommend I bump the face punching up higher in the order of operations?

Thanks for the suggestions. As tony mentioned I'm not doing Spanish foot, I'll do a bolt on. I think I'll just use the grellier for this one and see how it goes.

Zeke, you can use any neck joint you want, no mater what is drawn on the plans. . . I'm sure you know this but just pointing out to newbies that might read this in the future. Wouldn't want someone to shy away from a plan based on the neck joint.

I'm building one presently based on the Hana Lima. I really like the design though I opted for a bold-on neck myself. The plans are well done.

Yessir! Im a fan of taking a plan and using it as a guide to make my own. I always change stuff, no matter what im building (well except at work, customers get pretty upset if i modify their blueprints. even though my mods would make their stuff better laughing6-hehe )

Im a fan of the good ole m/t bolt on. top notch joint if i do say so myself

Elderly Instruments has a nice set of Martin Early Style plans for a soprano uke for about 3.95 (shipping is extra, though so your total will be about 8.50) that I'm using now. http://www.elderly.com
