What is a recommended 1st string distance from FB edge to string center?
I think I mad my neck too wide where it meets the body & so things are getting kind of far apart.
So I am considering bringing the 4th string out of parallel with the neck thus I bring them all a little closer????

That would look odd to me. And anyway, I like the distance from fretboard edge to increase as I go up the neck because it makes playing easier (for me). Nylon strings are soft and easy to pull off the fretboard edge.

I'd centre the strings on the neck. Playability is more important than looks. I space at 9 to 9.5mm at the nut, 13mm at the bridge, but you should space them to suit your playing preferences.

Fortunately there is no "right" way to style a ukulele!

I make mine 1/8" from the edge to the edge of the string at the nut. At the 12th fret its about 5/32
How wide is your nut? Most ukes are about 1-3/8" wide at the nut, and string spacing about 1-5/8" at the bridge Can you shave the neck down some?

I wish that I could move forward on a project that quickly.
Good luck.
