I'm going to bow out also. I've been sitting at home with a pinched nerve in my back, can't really do much of anything at the moment. I'll be up for the next one.
Thanks

Wudwerker -

can you update the list of participants ?

I am hoping I can finish mine - but I am still trying - I only have 3 days left to work on it - Thursday Friday, then a vacation and then the 31st - still have to make a bridge and a nut and saddle. Not sure when i will finish it - it might be submitted in the white....

as everyone else it has been a busy spring with other work.

Had a bit of a catastrophe with my harp ukulele, but I think I've got it fixed up, so I'm not out of the game yet.

Wud, I have to bow out as well. "Congrats" to all that were able to complete their projects.

I`m afraid I mjust withdraw, also.
Over budget and out of time already due to life and some of its aggravations getting in the way.

I'm going to drop out too. I never joined this competition but what the heck! It's what all the cool kids are doing so I'm out!

Seems everyone's dropping out... good, more chance of me getting bandsaw blades I guess... Always wanted a whole coil of Dimaster...

I'm still in, since I finished a while ago, just hangin out. The challenge uke sold, got a 5-0 Baggs installed, and has been used in a number of live events, including an eclipse concert in town. It was a great event, all of the scenery our area offers, about 500 on the lawn, and Ryan, the talented young man on the uke, played only my instruments, acoustic, uke and electric in 3 different sets, and gave a shout out to the builder each time.

The owner will be doing some studio video and sound clips this weekend.
I was tempted to drop out, just to spare myself the humiliation of being the only one to vote for my instrument, but its all for fun, even if I do need a new bandsaw blade. However, in my own criteria for success, I was able to build it with cheap enough materials, fast enough, and good enough, that I could sell it cheap enough to a young working musician who is playing it everywhere, my little uke is out there sharing the music, I'm a proud pappa.

I wish my story was as nice as above -

eitherway i am still in - I personally only have 2 days to finish this - I will be cutting it real close.

My thread is "John A's Challenge Build 2012"

I am building a cherry & cedar classical with walnut neck and fret board.

I'm still in, but it's going to be close. I'm building an electric bass. I'll finish it no matter what, but whether it's in 8 days or not is something else. At least we have a long weekend coming up. :)

In case I need to clarify, I'm still in. I will take some final pics of my mandolin and record a sound clip. It will be me playing and I'm terrible, but that's all I have time to arrange right now. Are we supposed to post these to our individual threads?

No I will set up a thread for each instrument catagory and you post on that thread
and at the top of that thread will be the voting . Will get that done this week

At this rate we're not going to need categories! By my count, only 8 confirmed survivors.

I've been trying to get some sound clips recorded for the past few days, but it's practically impossible to get any quiet time around here. I have some more finishing work to do as well, but I can call it "close enough" and do the final photoshoot for voting any time.

just fretted, made saddle, and nut - had to touch up the shellac on the neck again as in the rush I scratched it - I will be making a video tonight for my recording/pictures. I have not practiced anything - so it may not be perfect playing - actually it will not be perfect playing -
