In five words or less, you hit the nail on the head, Tony.

That birdseye limba is just nuts! I've never seen it before. Should make a real beauty.

Personally, I would go for the bearclaw. Jumbos tend to land a bit on the bright side. It's their nature. IMHO a slightly less stiff top may be better.

Don't worry, I'll think of something. You'll have to wait till my next trip to NYC though. :)

Up until last week, I hadn't seen any other sets except for mine, either. I was looking at sets from West Penn Hardwoods, and saw that they have a bunch of birdseye limba, as well, and it looks pretty much like mine does. I'm feeling lucky about what mine cost me!https://www.westpennhardwoods.com/catalog/Black-Limba.aspx?guid=3c444315-127b-4252-b239-e065aa361887

I've managed to get some work done on my side bender, and I should be done tomorrow. I'll need to order a blanket and get some spring steel slats.
I went on a bit of a WAS splurge this week. Padauk B&S set, two figured maple B&S sets, couple of bocote FB blanks, a Honduran RW FB and two HRW head plates from Darren Hippner on ebay. I'm also getting some BRW bindings from him as well for my challenge build.
I might be binding the finger board with BRW as well. If I do, I will likely change neck wood from roasted maple to something that will contrast better. I'm thinking maybe curly maple with a Padauk center strip. I'm definitely open to suggestions!

Oh yeah, Happy Swap-a-Palooza Day!!

Things are not looking good for my challenge build. Several projects grew in size, and some family health issues that are ongoing have eaten most of my time until now. A kitchen job that was supposed to be later in the year has been moved to now, and that will take me into early October, plus I'll be doing jury duty in September, and hopefully visit my daughter in B.C.
I used to take 6 weeks holidays every year while I was still working. Now that I am retired, I don't get any time off [headinwall] .
I'm hoping that I can start again, but I'm pretty sure that it won't be for a while. I am still following the challenge builds, and I am just floored by the skills and artistry that so many of the new builders are showing, and hope that I can come even close to what they are doing, once I can get back to work! Good luck to all!

Alex
