Client brought me his brand spanking new Rickenbacker bass for a setup, and he had a question about this thin greasy film all over his bass. It was on the metal parts, the metallic blue finish, the pickguard - everything. He couldn't get it wiped off. I tried my Lizard Spit polish, some lemon oil, even a little warm, soapy water. That seemed to cut most of it.

My question? The case reeks of outgassing glue, and the furry fabric evens feels slick. If I rubbed my fingers across the material, and then rubbed my fingers together - they felt slick. It washed off easily with soap and water.

Anyone have any experiences with this before? I told the guy to get another case or gigbag until we determine what's up with the hard case.
