Hi all, just wondering if anyone has used the StewMac lacquer pens for scratch fixes on older Nitro finishes.
They look interesting, but I would love to hear experiences. (Need to touch up a '70 D28 top and back).

I have a reranch one that I got to fix a ding in a freshly finished guitar of the same color. The pen did not match the arctic white I just sprayed recently... I'll post a pic when I get home.

I am a little slow on this, but I ended up buying a clear Nitro lacquer pen from SM. It is a great pen, easy to use for touch up. I don't have to buy a lot of lacquer to do a few touch ups.

I have four pens that cover some of the colors that I encounter - mahogany, amber, aged and clear. They seem to be fine, I still mix tinted lacquer for most drop filling and touchup (I shoot lacquer as my main finish so I usually have a quart or so laying around). I've used them a few times on non-lacquer finishes to try to match color in small areas - again, work OK but not perfect.

I only using the clear to touch up buckle marks and a few aggressive pick scratches (from a friend). So far it matches without the need for tinting. The guitar is a 1970 D-28. I would only use it on wood. It wouldn't really work on binding without tinting.
