I'm digging through my pile of things to do for when I have free time. I didn't actually think I'd ever get there, but with everything else on pause... Anyone have any experience with these guitars? It appears to be an excellent guitar. Seems to be all solid wood. The back and sides are rosewood. Does it look like Brazillian? |

As I recall, Yairi had a good reputation. |

I remember playing a few back then. They made a nice guitar for sure. They weren't inexpensive guitars. |

These were great guitars including the steel strings. This one looks like EIRW to me but It's hard to tell from here. They were well made and are very serviceable so it can be repaired and kept singing for years to come. And yes they were not cheap and IMO were some of the better imports back in the day when imports were often not great guitars. |

My only complaint with Yari in general is some of their funky steel string bridges. But overall very nice guitars. |

My only complaint with Yari in general is some of their funky steel string bridges. These bridges were on K. Yairi models. Here is some stuff to help clarify the different Yairi guitars imported into North America. S. Yairi or Sada Yairi guitars were not affiliated with the K. Yairi or Kiso Yairi brand of guitars, to my knowledge. The Sada Yairi were mostly solid wood and traditionally made. They were a high quality Japanese made import from the early to late 1970 s. The Kiso Yairi were not quite as traditionally made and used more laminated wood. They were still a descent quality guitar but not the same instrument as the Sada brand. Years ago I had heard that the two makers were actually related, brothers I believe, but I’m not positive about that story. I own a 1970 model 752 Sada Yairi steel string guitar, very much like a Martin 0-16 NY model. Cal |
