Had to replace a 15th fret after removing a neck as it was mangled during removal, but the frets were all at 0.8 mm. and the only wire I had of a similar width was 1.2mm high, so 1/3 of the height needed removing. With a Fret Kisser from SM coming in at about $120 to UK with taxes, seemed a bit expensive to level one fret, the only one I've had to do in nearly 10 years. Remembered a YouTube video using a prism and sandpaper so years ago, checked it out again and it worked great Using a 4" ($9) prism from amazon. 10 minute going through 80/120/320 grit, crowned and polished took another maybe 10, job done. Any CA gets on the prism ( ) comes off easily with a sharp chisel at a low angle, no marks on the crystal.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smDZX0VUOP4&t=576s |
