What a Bummer Lars, I'm sorry to hear that.
Wasn't your drinking hand too - that would be too much to bear unless you can use the other one as well.
How long until the plaster's off?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Too bad Lars, what a drag. Which side was it, which drinking hand? Don't know about you but when it comes to drinking, I'm ambidextrous. Anyway, hope it heals up quickly!

Sorry to hear about that Lars,
Speaking from experience don't underestimate the importance of rehab.
Take care of yourself, you should be a "Man of leisure" for the next week or two.

Next time just open the window, instead of "cracking" it.

Hope it heals up quick,
Joe

Bummer Lars! :o Get well quick my friend. My curiosity has been raised though, how did you manage to put your hand through a window?

And like Dave said, do not underestimate or take lightly the importance of physical therapy. That combined with absolute determination can work wonders.

Just because I spilt my thumb on a table saw didn't mean you needed to join the scar of the month club. Hope you recover fast.

Lars,
Be sure to follow the instructions for rehab. That pinky will prove it's importance as
you learn to use and move it fully again. They're little fingers, yes, but they play a large
role in everything you do with the hands that they're part of.

I lost my right pinky to a large milling machine as it was amputated back in 1988 and
I've missed it and felt its absence every day since.

We'll be watching and praying for a full, speedy and painless recovery for you.

All the best,
Kevin

Thanks alot you all for your warm concern . they say 3 month rehab, 1 month untill I can take off the gyprock. bummer. I had just heard that my sons cousin 8 years old. had fallen into a cliff and had hurt her head " it was all over the news here ! she´s now in a coma !! the came to get her in a hospital helicopter. So I was sad aqnd very worried for her. ran down to turn on the TV to see the news. slipt on the carpet and my arm flew threw the glas door ! 2 nervs were cut of and one of the big bloodveins and some other stuff they told me in latin duh . the pinky is totally dead hmm. but they said the nerve might grow out in full and "maby" I will get the feeling back in it within a years time. but they thought I will be able to have work with my hand in a good way in about 3 months time. grrrrr. so now on thursday I have my first rehad scheduled. its soo enoying, I just got some beautiful wood and was just gonna start on some new guitars. well Its all ment to be, I guess there was a good reason for this.

again , I am very honored and glad to have you here my friends. I sure mens alot to me to have your backup.

Lars.

Man, tough news. Like most of us who play AND build, our fingers are a dear part of us. I seriously hope you get the feeling and use back soon. And your niece has my prayers!

Lars-
Sorry to hear about your accident!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Be sure to work hard to follow the rehab instructions- it will probably be painful but will pay off in better function down the road.
Anyhow, for a tough guy like you, it really doesn't count as an injury unless you got blood on the current guitar!

Cheers
John

[headinwall] Get well soon! Same for your niece...

I just remembered when I was 6 or so I ran through a glass door, crashed in it with my shoulder, didn't get a single scratch. Dad told me that about 20 years ago at a new years party a woman while dancing slipped and crashed in a glass door, cut her neck and bled to death until the rescue came, was in the news... Glass doors are evil (even if i was lucky)

Man Lars, that's awful. I too wish you a speedy recovery. And I'll jump on the rehab bandwagon. When you actually do the exercise the PT gives you, it makes a huge difference in speed and quality of the recovery.

Mike
