Isn't a L-00 a little bigger than a 00? I love short scale L-00's. Here's a recording of a plain ol' Sitka/African Mahogany L-00ish guitar I built a few years ago. http://brackettinstruments.com/27.mp3

Both are 24 5/8" scale (I think, they may have been 24 3/4")

They're both different guitars, really, with the only thing in common being that they have two zeros in their name.... As for sound/tone, it will be what you do with it, not what it is, that decides that.

I've recently built my first fingerstyle-specific model based on the L-00 shape. I say "shape", because that's the only thing I kept of the L-00. Sounds nothing like a Gibson... I found this guitar to be surprisingly comfortable for me. I generally am not comfortable with smaller guitars, as they make me hunch-over them and it quickly tires my (very bad)back, but for whatever reason, this body shape didn't seem to do that for me. Methinks it has to do with the relationship between the waist and lower bout, as the waist dictates where the guitar sits on the leg, and the lower bout dictates where your arm meets it(though we can move our arm fore or aft, it's nice when our arm can just drape-over the guitar naturally). Point being, if you're undecided on which one to build, and you're building it for yourself, try one of each on for size, and see if one or the other fits -you- better.
