A quick reminder for the folks coming for classes tomorrow and Saturday we want to get started at 9:00AM sharp. I will be there a bit early so come on up. The "OPEN" sign on the outside of our building will say "Closed" please disregard and come on up anyway.

There will be donuts from the bakery rated the best in Michigan and of course we have lunch brought in too and that's on us.

A reminder too that we proactively donate 10% of the proceeds from our classes to Lance and the OLF. As such this is an opportunity to learn tried and true commercial methods for doing superb fret work and set-ups. Ultimately the set-up is the user interface to the guitars that we build and the very first thing that a prospective client will surely notice and no I am not calling you Shirley. Well maybe.... ;)

Anyway we still have openings in our Oct. 7 - 8th classes and these will likely be the last classes that we offer this year. If interested give me a call and you can find out more information here: http://www.annarborguitars.com/styled-6/index.html

It's a very fun and productive time and you leave with the knowledge to do excellent fret work both fretting and fret dresses and some of our alumni start doing repair work. Providing fret work and set-ups is a great way to reverse the cash flow of Lutherie as a hobby..... ;) [:Y:]

Many thanks!

All the students are busy fretting their guitars so I took a break to post some pics:

I also wanted to thank two very trusted suppliers and friends.

Andy of Birkonium and Murray of Technofret (search term for eBay).

Andy makes the best fret pressing caul set on the planet. Andy is also a sponsor.

Murray makes leveling beams that we plan on buying for our own use because the ones that our students have are excellent!

Thanks guys!!!

Wrapping up this thread about our classes, Fretting and Set-Up and I wanted to post a class pic. None of these guys are OLfers this time but I know that you guys and some of our grads that are here appreciate seeing what's happening in our classes and shop.

A reminder that the October classes that have three opening left are the last class offering of this year. We will be doing and do offer custom classes and private classes as well and are open to ideas for subject matter.

On an interesting note two of these guys did so very well that they had exceptionally low action capability on thier resulting fret jobs. The Paul played great with action of 2.5/64th" for the high E and 3/64th" for the low E measured at the 12th. That's an accomplishment! One of the other guitars was also well below Martin specs for low action and played buzz free.

Thanks for looking and if you have any interest in our classes shoot me a PM or give us a call.
