I am restoring a 39 and 41 martin D28 both with the same issue of no wood under the bridge. One is more severe as someone that didn't know what they were doing had worked on it and used epoxy . Took about 30 hr of work but I am ready to put in the new bridge plate.

Got some really nice Peruvian Walnut - and made a vanity out of it. Some of the leftovers will make nice necks!

This was a fun one, 1968 Gibson SG badly abused over the years, the botched Floyd Rose install was the straw that broke the gibbys back.
Routed out all the ugly wood, bad pickup routes, forstner bit abominations, glued in Honduran mahogany with HHG. Had to make custom sized Honduran mahogany dowels for the neck, and build up the neck in front of the fingerboard for a decent nut height. The new route for the neck pickup was a smidgeon stressful but it turned out

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Trying to decide if my private plunge pool is at exactly the right temperature for optimum morning refreshment before a beach walk, although the major activity yesterday was whether a second mango-lime margarita with the spicy salt rim was really the best idea before dinner. It was. 8-)

Repairing #5 of the 8 that came in two weeks ago. Also getting ready to glue on the bridge for my size 5 build that's been in work for the last year or so. Good thing I'm retiring soon, I need more time in the shop.

Aside from the 7 instruments that I've personally got underway, my student and friend, Dick was finally able to finish up his "0" guitar. It took seven months, working 2-3 days a week, 3-4 hrs a day, for him to complete the guitar due to his father passing and needing to be on point for all that follows that event. The guitar is my own design loosely based on a Marvin "0". It's braced differently, it's a 24" scale, the soundhole is farther north than a Marvin "0", and so on. He's pretty chuffed!

Staining new kitchen cabinets. You have to do that when the nest empties. At least that’s what she said. When I get done I’m definitely going to start on number 23! That’s right I say.

Great stuff.

I’m having fun with some rosette, tops, bindings and purfling.

Aaron - That rosette (photos 3 & 4) came out really nice. It looks great with that top and it'll be cool to see how it looks with that radial purfling installed around the top. What is the top?

Photography nerd question. How did you get the narrow horizontal in-focus band across photo #4? That's a nice effect.

Thanks! I like the way it came out too. The top is some really nice sinker redwood.

As for photo number 4, the shallow depth of field stems from a combination of a large aperture, long focal length, and shot angle. I think that was taken at 70 mm and something in the 2.8f to 3.2f aperture range.
