I’m sure I’m not the only one to do this:) a cracked back...
move to another set
Cracked on the cutaway bend
So what happens? You make the most out of it and combine the 2:) here’s where I am so far

It’s my first cut away like this.
I’m stressing a LITTLE about the neck joint (as in how it will all match up. It’s been measured and all but ya neva know haha

On the front side it should be flush, however since I’m tapering the heel there will be some real estate back there.

I used BWB and figured Bloodwood binding (it has a lot of dark lines in it... pretty rad) MAN that bonding was brittle, but I FINALLY got it installed without too much hair pulling.
Here are some pics of the back scraped down. There are still some high spots (but I was getting tired by this point)

Parts are roughed in!
Neck and fingerboard extension will fight just right against the cut away.
Next step is finalize neck shape / fit and all that stuff:)
Neck isn’t fitted or attached... just laying in spot

I really like that fingerboard inlay. And that katalox (figured?) wedge gives it a cool look. The bindings and inlay work nice on it.

If you mean the THICKNESS... they were .80 before sanding down flush. So something less than that.
I think they appear thicker from
