The idea was to match the colors of the snakewood bindings at the edge and lighten from there.
The Purfling is Walker inspired flamed maple custom made by the zootman, the rosette is cut from a flamed maple blank then inlaid with Redheart with an inner and outer b/w/b ring.
The neck is mahogany, ebony board with a MOP vine inlay, Gold Waverly's with snake wood buttons, and a black on black Ameritage case with my logo embroidered on the out side

Next picks maybe it'll have strings

Certainly will be a stunner!
Lance, can you find out for me what kind of tape he used to mask off that rosette? Doing a sunburst with a rosette like that always presents that problem!

Sweet
Everytime I see picts of Tonys spray booth it seems bigger and bigger.
At first I thought it was a shower stall with white tiles...then I saw a
door...now I see guitars 100 yards back still in the booth
What a setup

Lance that looks fantastic. Beautiful work as usual and Tony's workmanship is icing on the cake.

Mark I use 1/8" masking tape from 3M It takes a bit of time but works pretty good. Maybe Tony uses something else.

Tony doesn't use tape...he just points his spray gun and WILLS the spray where he wants it! Probably wears a cape too, but I can't say for sure!

He must have taken over the showers at Nunica High School.

Lance, that's really tastefully done! I like that you can still see the wood grain through the color. Good choice!

It's a nice finish, but honestly, I'd prefer that guitar with a plain, slightly amber tinted top. For the record, like.

Larry, I think you have Tony confused with Chuck Norris.

BTW, great looking guitar Lance. I think I prefer a burst with a plainer back/side combo though. Maybe mahogany stained dark. From the examples I've seen on this forum, Tony does do amazing work.

Hi Hesh

Three reasons for you.

1. You asked what we thought to the idea.

2. Lances guitar is sprayed and I was working on the theory that he clearly likes the result and thats what matters. Hey hesh if you like it go for it but I will morn the loss of the Adirondack

3. I figured I wouldn't become an anti sunburst bore, its clear a lot of people seem to like sunburst, can't see why myself, but hey each to their own.RussellR38811.7341203704

Hesh, i'm staying by whut i said, i'd really go with something more subtle if you really want a sunburst so desperately!

Light Caramel or Cognac around the edges of your top!

That's exactly what I imagine. A light one color shading of a warmer
color like the caramel.

Russell,

1. 'Cause a well-done 'burst is an artistic thing of beauty.

2. We grew up admiring all those pretty Gibsons, and thought all those plain Martin d***dn**ts were boring.

3. From ten feet away, spruce looks boring. We know better, but it's a hard perception to shake.

4. Just 'cause!
