I really like the shape of the cutaway.

I notice that the there is a significant amount of saddle above the bridge-This is not a criticism, I tend to like more than less, but I tend to round off the ends which visually makes it look smaller.

Thanks, Brad. I agree. I left a little meat under the strings since it hadn't been under tension long enough to really dial in a long term setup, so there's room to to bring it down.

Awesome James and I love the cut-a-way too.

What are you starting on now? bliss

Sickeningly, I’ll be re-topping this. :(

I was cutting the binding off last night to touch up a few things, sneaking up on it pass by pass. I had a complete brain fart and set the cut for the final pass on the wrong side of the zero bar on my Elevate jig. I was in love with this top, but it’s just one of those things. Nothing to do but regroup and move on.

How about adding a bevel/scoop to the cutaway? Especially if there will be an armrest bevel to balance it out visually.

What Dennis said, you have an option!

James, don’t beat yourself up too much. I just got the Elevate binding jig and after running a piece of scrap through to get it just right, I did the same thing you did. I was so sure it was right that I forgot to cut at the neck join first. Fortunately mine is only an inch long at the bottom joint. An old carpenters adage is; if you can’t hide it, accent it. I have a nice shell inlay that just fits and looks like a feature to anyone but another builder. Beautiful work on your first.
