ive been off of work for about six weeks now on paid family leave and with nary a penny from the state (maybe they should call it unpaid family leave) i thought christmas was going to be super thin this year. not so! my family has been so generous to me and my family. on top of a veritable new wardrobe, i received enough money for my birthday/christmas to buy supplies for guitar number two! what a great christmas! and it isnt even christmas yet! |

Gee Todd, thats a really nice clock you got there hangin on yer shop wall from yer friend. Funny how us two leggeds are. The last thing me want in me shop is a clock, so no me not gonna gloat over it. In fact, just the opposite, me sorry to hear that your friends think so little of you that they would gift you such an oppressive symbol of the industrial, militay, banking complex to hang in yer shop for you to attempt to be creative under. Oh well. The only clock me got is on this here laptop and thats cuz it comes with windows. Oh ya, one came with the stove...but its a digital and me cant read it with out me glasses, don't know how to set it any how...so it really don't count. Oh well, just another few years and this error in time will supposedly be corrected and well we wont be need them any more I suppose. blessings, the timeless Padam. |

Nice clock Todd. I got mighty suspicious when they changed it from the War Dept. to "Defense" Dept. Seems as though they have changed the Military industrial congressional complex to Terrorist industrial Presidential congressional complex too! My wife and I have joined Rev. Billy's Church of Stop Shopping, so the only thing we have is an appt to get the washer fixed today. We intend to torch up the fireplace, put on some classical music, have a nice dinner and wish each other a blessed Chrismas. Hope you all do also... ![]() |

. Well ain't the "Official" luthiers forum a fine kettle of fish... Todd is trying to implicate me in some clandestine plot to disrupt the peace and harmony of singing crickets. Chris V is starting to melt down and spew off at the mouth again. dunwell is quoting prophets from the '60's. Haans has finally lost it and is now burning his instruments. and Flippo is stuffing his face with popcorn, thinking this is some form of entertainment. Some of you are posting me PM's of praise while others are sending me sticks and stones. And all this because I said "Gee Todd, thats a really nice clock you got there hangin on yer shop wall from yer friend." Common dudes, get it together. Go smell some sawdust or eat some glue. Or sumpthin. Now for those of you who need to discharge, rant, rave or praise, send a email to a politician...they have trained staff on how to handle you dudes. But non the less, I wish you all, that's right, each and every one of you, with no exception, the best of health and happiness at this time of year. ![]() blessings the Padma |

Hey Todd I thought about it and decide take your intent a little seriously I will not explain much except that two young people very important to me, that have been out of my life, came to me and expressed love, trust, and a willingness to reconnect. I can not remember a gift that has meant more to me than this beginning of healing... My oldest son(24)chose to live with me about 3 years ago. He is autistic and is working very hard to pick on me much less than his usual ocd-ness about it.. ( I am a mild outlet for his aggressive feelings) He is keeping his promise to not say things like I scream like an Indian in my sleep or that I love his 300+ lb. bus driver or a few others I hear 1000 times. He has made great strides in the last couple of years from very destructive to constructive and is continuing to grow and mature. another big gift of healing... My 20 year old leather clad shredder who is intell-edge-ent despite thinking having opinions about on dark matter, entropy, philosophy and calling himself Son of Oberon king of nowhere make him seem intelligent ( ![]() ![]() ![]() Mom still spoils me some even though I am getting close to 50 ![]() I wish all Growth Fellowship(if wanted) and Happy Holidays, Kirby |

I am not supposed to know yet but I got a new 12 string. I know because she left the invoice on the kitchen table night before last. Diane knew I had been tiring to make the time to build myself a new 12 string and not finding the time due to work and other commitments, so she went out and bought me a Takie-macie (Takamine) EG532sc-12 to get me by till spring. I am not sure what to think about my wife buying “ME” a factory guitar. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have no idea what I'm getting. I didn't ask for anything. I know I can't wait for everyone else to open their gifts...got my daughter horseriding lessons and sponsored a horse for a month at the local horse rescue. She'll get to go down and brush it, clean it's stable, feed and water it, and I get to pay for her to do it. Still cheaper than owning a horse and she gets to learn the work involved. She's going to love it though. What I would like for Christmas is the time to get my shop wired, insulated and drywalled...and for my GF to stop referring to it as "the shed". Darrin |

In recent years, my wife had been quite extravagant about guitar related presents - It's also my birthday, and on my 50th I got a Guild 412 - how's that for Christmas 12's, Michael? I still love it. (I was just checking their website - the 12's seem to have fallen off the map? Are they all Chinese now?) We are on the Christmas lite now - my tool-related, self chosen gift this year is a Hock 2-3/8 plane blade and chip breaker. Oh for the good old days ... ![]() |

.. Well dudes, is like dis... me lady friend blows in here the other day and hands me a gift. ![]() It was one of them there coffee table books on that there Russian Visionary artist Nicholas Roerich. She then said, have a Merry Xmas, see you later, I'm off to Florida for a month. And oh by the way, you can gift me back that book on my birthday and splits. ![]() So dudes it looks like me Xmas gift is only on loan. Oh well, better than nothin. Oh ya , she gave doggie one of them cow hide bones. Him demolished it already. Actually it looks like my Xmas gift is to myself. For the last 10 weeks me been reorganizing my whole house and life to accommodated my prodigal son, daughter in law and 2 grand kids. This included rebuilding and condensing my shop. Well the shop is now basically done. The presents are all made,( you know, wooden trucks/toys to be assemble by little hands and little trains on wooden wheelies, a 3 ft long hand carved maple wooden spoon for the daughter in law and one of them great big huge funkie wooden locks with a skeleton key all of assorted woods for me son, with a wooden hasp even ) Money is tight, but lots of wood around this place thats for sure. The beer is all bottled, the cabbage roles are rolled cooked and in the freezer. Fortunately I had the foresight to bake the Xmas fruit cake months back. The turkey is thawing... and after I cook it and we eat it.... Guess what? I finally get to enjoy my Xmas gift to me self , which is close and lock the shop door behind me for a month or two...gee maybe even three....thats if the beer lasts that long. ![]() the best of the season to all of you, Ho ho ho the Padma |

Todd, that's a nice clock! It was time to say it. I was getting ticked off. Alarms were going off in my head. Hey, wait a second... It sure would be nice, at times, not to have to know what time it is, or what day it is, or what century. I can go off on a timeless journey as much as the next being, but with a wife and daughter counting on me to perform culinary miracles in anticipation of growling stomachs, play taxi driver/chauffeur, and show up at the altar on time, well, I do need those vibrating cesium atoms to remind me. The biggest thing I just got won't fit in a stocking, and came a few weeks ago in the form of a mystical and transcendent experience. On the material plane, my wife got me a couple of anti-fatigue mats for the shop floor to make standing on concrete more like walking on clouds. That'll bring me back down to Earth. Well, the big hand is on my heart, so it's time to say, have a wonderful Christmas everyone! Namaste, Dennis |
