Okay, now I'm pissed :-) I had all the good intentions in the world of stopping by, but I'm actually delivering a guitar on Sunday and I'm gonna need Saturday for setup.

Oh well, I hope everyone has a good time (you rat b@stards). :-)

I had a great time yesterday at Exotic woods, met a lot of builders and left a little bit of my cash for some nice wood. The presentations by Sergei de Jonge and Tony Karol were quite interesting and well done. This is meant to become a annual event and by the amount people of attending and the piles of wood that went out the door I think we will see it happen again for sure. The guys from Exotic are very helpful and great hosts.

There were a few forum members I already know present and it was great to connect with several others that I had not yet met in person.

Thanks to Exotic woods for a great day.

I had a great time at Exotic-Woods as well. The staff were great hosts, and there were many great deals. It was nice to meet several OLF'ers, especially Fred. He brought his Bubinga guitar that just stunned everyone! I bought a few items for my stash, and look forward to next year.

As a newbie to the luthier scene this was a nice event to get my toes wet. I was able to meet a couple luthiers in my area which I hope will allow me to build some new relationships that will help me develope my skills. Hearing Sergei and Tony speak and share their knowledge was priceless information that on many levels just wet my appetite for more.

Thanks also to Jeremy Nicks from the Canadian School of Lutherie in Toronto who discussed his motivation for building electric guitars and Mike Smyth from MJS Pick-ups who gave an overview on pickup design. Exotic Woods also provided a lunch for the participants and they held a raffle for an electric guitar and a $250 gift certificate.

All in all just a nice day where I got to fondle wood to my hearts content bliss. I was also able to confirm that my WAS has developed into a full blown addiction, luckely I seemed to be in a group that also displayed the same condition so I fit right in. One of the luthiers I met commented while surrounded by all the wood that one could just make a hobby out of building their stash, there was no one in the group that disagreed.
