Hi All

I am using some Australian Blackwood for a new build. I noticed what I thought were water stains in the wood. But it appears they are not water stains as they go throught the entire board - I have eight pieces of flitch cut apx .170" per board and the stain(?) goes through from top to bottom. Pictures below. They won't sand out as they go completely through and can't remove them with wood cleaner. I might be a little picky but I'm not thrilled with them. What do you think.

It adds character. It's wood. Wood has stuff like that. It's not all dead perfect. Sometimes the imperfections look great. How will it look when book matched? It might be really cool....

I like it. Sort of bearclaw looking. Pair it with a bearclaw spruce top and it'll look right at home :)

Okay I'm too picky
Good idea for the bearclaw top but was going to use A Blackwood for back, top and sides

If you bought the wood at a bargain price, I would say work with the defects as best you can. If I paid full price I would not be happy about the discoloration.
