I don't remember the bucket o' lard. I either missed it or this was a thing before I joined.

Seeing this reminds me of my first real job; kitchen work in an old-style restaurant. We used to have lard delivered in big plastic-lined boxes. Must have been 10 lbs. or so in each one. That's a lot o' lard. The food was delicious. [:Y:]

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
