I just strung up this one.
In the 60's Fender made a "Fender Bass VI"
It is basically a 6-string electric strung with a 30" scale, thicker strings and tuned down an octave.
It was used by the Beatles John/George on their early recordings when Paul would man the piano.
Also used in Glenn Campbell's "Wichita Lineman"
There has been a resurgence of late, with amazing players like Mark Letteri of The Fearless Flyers using modern interpretations of the Bass VI.
Here is my version, with an Ash body, African Mahogany neck and Bubinga fretboard, pickguard and headplate, dual concentric vol/tone, and a slide pickup selector switch:

I know it will be my best yet, and can finally move on to a new hobby.

I used to be quite active around here for a while, until the dust allergies made working with wood increasingly difficult for me, and I had to slow down on the instrument building. Over the last few months I have rebuilt my workshop completely, with two rooms separated by an "airlock", to keep the clean and dusty work apart. I also got a new wooden floor, a couple of new windows, a new dust collection system, some machine upgrades etc. And now finally, I also have some new instruments on the way.
