Post subject:  Braces on a plan

Well actually two plans.
The first is the Vihuela plan. I can't figure what is going on at the end of the TWO cross braces. That's it. It does go from 3.5 to 2mm or so thickness, so there is more going on.

The second is the same sort of thing on a Panormo.

I guess the glass on my bench needs to be replaced!

What's going on here?

Well I found pictures. Apparently they go up the side! I never saw that before.

I was just going to suggest that they might be brace end cleats [:Y:]

Either represents the scallop on the end of the brace or the cross section.
