If you recall my acquisition last summer of a 1976 Gibson ES-175 D that smelled bad I wanted to give you an update.

The guitar has been hanging in the studio with it's sisters and used/played by me perhaps weekly ever since. It does a mean Story Monday.

The smell of the guitar is almost gone, perhaps 70% better.

The case on the other hand was much worse. I had tried charcoal bags left in it for months and then pitched and that helped a great deal. But when you open the case it still smelled like someone died in it. Maybe they did.... Eat Drink :D [xx(]

So I saw a commercial for Pooph and ordered some from Amazon.

https://www.pooph.com/?mid=12016823&vendor=google&campaignid=15182310361&adgroupid=132194116729&targetid=kwd-1458241007427&mt=e&network=g&device=c&adid=591526379658&keyword=pooph&adtype=&merchantid=&productchannel=&productid=&placement=&gclid=CjwKCAiAioifBhAXEiwApzCztl97G31W4YLUMiaDAqr8oEMmBxuYDH4IftA7bMJ8NyIK4QXyPvd7vhoCyrcQAvD_BwE

Misted (the sprayer produces a fine mist) the entire case yesterday inside and out and even did the envelope, unopened with the key. Today there is no hint of odor, none. Impressive.

Now the down side is we do not know what this stuff is.... :o :). But they, the manufacturer says is made out of minerals with no chemicals or toxins and it's completely safe. They say you can wipe it on your pet's skin....

So no plans to spray the guitar here I need to know what's in it and I need someone else to risk their guitar first.... :) Kidding of course, guitars are people to ya know.

But for a stinky case this is the best stuff I have ever used or found and if the case remains in one piece say a month from now it has my recommendation (for the case only). My plan is to let the case dry out for a long time, at least a week before I close it or would put an instrument in it to be sure it's completely dry.

I'm guessing if it is minerals, they will never be gone and could transfer to the guitar later.

Thanks. Pooph claims no fragrance in their mix so this is confusing.

But hey it seems to work and I'm not spraying it on a guitar (until someone else does and it doesn't fall apart :) ) so I'm good.
