One of the “simplest “ aesthetic designs I have done and I love the way it came out!
Lutz spruce top.
Quarter sawn Sycamore back and sides
Honduran mahogany neck.
Ebony fretboard and bridge.
24.9 inch scale.
Tortoise celluloid binding
Matte nitro lacquer.

Very nice ! That white/black/white purfling some you bought or did you have to make it up somehow? It looks neat.

Sycamore works good on a guitar. Interesting, but more low key. I used it on a couple of violins, and for linings. It bends, but doesn't snap easy. I had trouble breaking spruce on tight bends.
The flecks are hard, and getting flat and smooth is more trouble than on some wood.

Looks good. Simple isn't simple to pull off.

Looks great, Brad. Is your output accelerating? Seems like a new build every two weeks! :)

I am not sure if the wood is domestic . I bought some large planks of it 20+ years ago milled it into guitar sets and sold most of it.

The guitar is only a few days old and is opening up nicely, don't know how much the sycamore is contributing.....

I made it by sanding down .090" strips to around.060" for that "old Gibson" vibe.

Yes, I "retired" from my day job almost 2 years ago and build guitars, repair guitars (subcontracting to a repair shop usually doing major work) and work on our house.

So I was building about 5 a year and now I am building about 10.

The problem I have is selling them since I build at a faster rate then I can sell them.

For example, at the moment I have 13 guitars for sale.....
