Our friend John Thomas had a CT scan done of his banner Gibson and it's fascinating. It also opens up the possibility that one day repair people will scan an instrument and then take a virtual tour of the inside looking for that elusive loose brace that's buzzing or, or, or whatever is wrong with the thing.

VR, virtual reality is here and will only get better.

When he said you can just stick you head in I thought of some of you guys.... :)

Happy Sunday! :D

Really cool. VR / AR will continue to see a lot of investment from tech companies in the form of the industrial metaverse - digital twins, AR assisted operations, etc… NVIDIA is also pushing the boundaries in the GPU space. It’s an interesting time. Now… if we can just get the supply chain fixed so that there aren’t 10 month lead times on parts! :D

That kinda' looked like the "Money For Nothing" video. It also made me sea sick. [xx(]

Violin posters from The Strad magazine have been using CT scans for a while. They have full size photos on one side, and dimensioned drawings on the other. They use the scans for thickness maps, and archings inside and out; besides the drawings. You can see how warped it is, and even repairs.
Photos of cello bodies aren't full size, but a full size back, or belly is drawn, and full size arches, on the outside, are given. I don't think I've seen a Cello 3D poster.
You can find moving scans all the way up on line, but having the 5 or 6 cross arches, and the long arches are good enough for most making.
Guitar plans are quite primitive. They aren't as complicated though.

I don't understand the need for VR. I'm out of the loop. I like reality.
